Andreas Samaris is a Greek footballer who currently plays for Portuguese champions, SL Benfica, and the Greek National Team.
He was born on the 13th June, 1989 in Patras, Greece and is currently 26 years old.
He first started playing soccer for his local team, PAO Varda before starting his professional career for Panachaiki in 2006. Here, he scored 3 gols in 37 appearances for the red and blacks. On the 11th January, he transfered to Panionios where he scored a goal throughout his 49 appearances.
Samaris signed with Greek favourites, Olympiacos FC in August 2012 where he stayed for 2 years. Playing as number 14, the midfielder scored 4 goals in his 38 appearances in the red and white stripes. His exceptional talent both here and in the National Greek team landed him a 5 year contract with Portuguese legends Benfica, for 10 million euros.
The Greek number 22 came on as a substitute for the injured Panagiotis Kone in the FIFA 2014 match against Ivory Coast, where in the 43rd minute of the match, he scored his first international goal. He then gained immediate recognition and soon after signed with Benfica, who won the 2014-2015 season.
